while it is one of the hardest going modern "mdm" albums out there, I still concur it's pretty poppy. I don't think that takes away from any of the material though, if anything it adds to it in this case

People likely mean poppy in terms of the fact that it's very hook-driven, which is not a bad thing given the style/the vocalist on deck. If you've got Bjorn Strid, let 'im rock a chorus lol
I will say that "Death in General" could reasonably get radio play and I'd be 100% okay with it, radio quality would skyrocket.

I really cannot agree with you Spec, I do understand however that some of Soilwork sounds a bit like Demon Hunter, but that is mostly because Demon Hunter is inspired by Soilwork haha. Especially this record and the Living Infinite are way more MDM with poppy influences (hooks!) than melodic metalcore / alt metal...
