Okay Beach House this is your last chance
|

bruh this is not the place, Teen Dream and Bloom are where it's at

Teen Dream is a hard 1.5 and I'll go back to the 3 or so good songs on Bloom regardless of whether or not this is a saver (which so far it is not)

Johnny with the hot takes

it's impossible to have a hot take on Beach House they are the least offensive band in the universe
this one's alright. doesn't have the same highlights as Bloom, but it avoids the awkward baby-programmed percussive anthemflops and I guess holds its own as an okay ambient pop album better than the two before it. nice bookends!

I was disappointed by this for the longest time but now it's my second favorite Beach House.
Bloom is an emotional 5 for me

Hmmmm you have a point about how inoffensive they are. Not a bad thing in my eyes. I just can't see Teen Dream as a 1.5, I mean Zebra and Silver Soul alone make it a prime dream pop album. And Bloom is incredibly consistent as well.

>awkward baby-programmed percussive anthemflops
assuming you mean the bells on 'Myth' which are the worst thing about the song but are also barely noticeable after 3 seconds
or else on 'Wild', same thing

Myth might be my favorite song by this band so if something about it sucks then it's news to me.
|
| |
I just find the intro annoying and maybe too synthetic. You might be right tho, it is one of their best for sure.

Myth and Wild are easily the best songs on Bloom (along with On the Sea and maybe the closer) imo, although the percussion on both does kinda suck. instant way to ruin any pre-7 Beach House song = just pay close attention to the beats. am thinking more along the lines of the Hours/New Year/maybe Other People tho

On the Sea is my second favorite BH song
I really love Bloom
|
| |
Literally, the beats are not what you should listen to beach house for. Just ignore them and boom you're in love

I mean, it wasn't exactly a first impression lol. More of an ongoing hmm why does most of everything they've done except 7 sound incredibly turgid, oh wait that's their only album with a live drummer boom problem solved
in fairness 7 also expanded their layerings and tones q a bit, but I can't get through a Beach House song without clocking those plodding beats as an omen of pervading stodge :[ this alb does quite well to keep their role minimal

Drumming can make an entire album (my most recent percussive love affairs are the new records by Seahaven and Cloud Nothings)
That said, I don't need great percussion or elaborate studio beats to 5 the hell outta something
These dudes twinkle hard
