Really good review SS.
As for this album, I want to try it, but fuck, who has the time to sit down and listen to a 29-track monster these days??? I feel like Noel Gallagher shitting all over Arcade Fire now hahahaha.

ffs. this is just as monumental as the monitor!

This is probably my AOTY so far, but idk about it being better than the Monitor. The Monitor is just a hair away from being a 5.

they struck a similar chord with me. id take this one looking forward. I think the 3-5 minute tracks suit them very well.

Yeah, and the really short tracks rule hard as well.

Defintitely agreed on the shorter tracks. They can do the brief-but-intense well, and it's something they've never really done before this (I know they've done shorter songs, but not really like here). I love their ambitious songs mind you, but 'Lookalike' leading into 'I Lost My Mind', the Pogues cover and 'Dimed Out' are awesome too.

Yep, that's one of my favorite moments on the album.

Yeah Lookalike through Dimed Out is my favorite part of this entire album, with the exception of Come On Siobhan which is songwriting perfection

@Arcade: A really personal review would make more sense for an album that has been out a long time (i.e. The Monitor), but not for something that's been streaming a week. Thanks for the props anyway though, I always appreciate the input. I see your point about an overabundance of similes being a crutch, but I tried not to just say "hey this is like ________" without backing up the assertions. In most cases, in fact, I didn't even try to liken the music here to any of those classic rock albums, I just pointed out common themes and ambitions.
@Irving: Thanks bro, but don't let the length scare you away (if this was 2010, I'd insert a very inappropriate joke here). If you can enjoy messy punk and huge concept albums separately, you just might love the two when their intertwined.
@larrytheslug: I hope so. For how popular this band is on the site, and for how massive this album is, this has sure gotten the cold shoulder.
@brainmelter23: Thanks, and let me know what you think!
@hogan: Thank you, and it is indeed!
@Sharktooth: I stand behind the hyperbole in this review, hopefully it lives up to the promises you think it makes!
@Evenoss/Piglet: What is this review you're talking about?

"Fantano's review for this was spot on"
I see where he's coming from, but I disagree with almost every point he made and I didn't care for half of the longer albums he cited as good examples at the start of the review.
