Man you hate this album. For me it's melodic, good vox and plenty of good songs. They were expanding their sound as they've done again and again since this

I just don’t get why they traded in 80% of their technicality for atmosphere. No one said they couldn’t have both

hit the nail on the head. the drummer is the only one really doing anything impressive and they shoved him behind allll that atmosphere so his presence isn't even really that powerfully felt. everything else is so dumbed down and uninterseting

Nic is such a sick drummer, one of the best in the scene

I've always hated the sound of the drums on this. On Soma, the toms sound like a plastic toy set.

I'd forgotten how fucking epic "Animate" is off this, what a closer!
Also the production hate on this has always been completely overblown. I wasn't the greatest fan of it whenever this came out because of the drastic change but I've come to appreciate it much more over the years.

This has grown to be my fav album with this vocalist

i decided to check this and... I kinda like it lol
at the same time though compared to Singularity and Discoveries the riffs don't go nearly as hard, production is worse, & marcus's harsh vocals are such a step down from adrian's. i can see why this was so divisive
I think northlane made a wise decision shifting their sound
