I swear it's an absolute locktight rule of reviewing post-rock/metal that the first paragraph or two HAS to talk about how post-rock/metal is passe. Like EVERY review does the same thing of "oh I know post is overdone but this is a good album!"

Like the glistening, calculated geometry that graces the cover of Infinite Disolution, Locrian have morphed into the most sleek and manufactured version of themselves. For better or worse, the band has seemingly lost their “edge.”
That's what joining a huge metal label will do to you (Relaspe Records). Still need to hear this.
Great review dude!

I've only heard The Crystal World by these guys and it was pretty good. This however, bored me to tears and I don't care enough atm to give it a second chance.

it starts off feeling like it wants to be the new Teethed Glory and Injury, but then just forgets what it was doing and loses interest in trying to do anything.

It seems ambitious at first but it goes nowhere
The last couple tracks are good though

These guys are so unsatisfying it’s hilarious. If only their music was half as cool as their album covers
