I think this is the only album I've ever really enjoyed from Modest Mouse. I'm not even that big of a fan, but I found this album listen..able.

this is my favorite album by them. i seem to be the only one.

i also think "the world at large" is their best 4 1/2 minutes on record.

I do think the previous three albums (and Building Nothing) are better but 3.8 is way too low for this!

Like you, I’m going through MM’s discog for the first time. Just started listening to TMAA a few days ago. LCW is my current favorite.

I am actually enjoying this quite a bit but there are definitely some capital D Duds here. But there are also several songs as good as the previous stuff (the opening trio, “Bukowski”, and the closer). Kinda hard to rate because it is really all over the place. Also more often than not Isaac’s lyrics are much better than the music behind them.

Oh yeah I wasn’t counting the intro obviously.

“The View” is kinda mixed, don’t really like Isaac’s singing on that one.

"The World At Large"'s lyrics hit HARD

I will say the mellotron in the latter part of the song comes across a bit cheesy/sappy but it's still an amazing song.
