First track sounds very Converge influenced, amongst other parts. Easily their heaviest album to date, but yeah not necessarily their best.

Damn.. A 5? I'll have to check this out. Always liked what I heard from this band, but that was from like 2005ish?

i thought less of converge and felt more like this was more The Illusion of Safety-era Thrice. I liked this album but I wouldn't consider it 5-worthy.

The self-titled song is uh-maz-ing tho. Probably my favorite song from them

Except TIOS was hookier (if that's a word)

Edit: A second run-through of this album really did it for me. I thought this album was really well done.

Well it's not 5 worthy yet it came out 2 days ago....

I mean I don't think I'd see myself 5'ing this anyways, but still.

Depends on how long I keep it in rotation. I might bump it up in time. Might bump it down. I think the main reason behind my 4.5 as opposed to say a 4 is because of "Pull the Thorns" and "We Are All Returning Home".

We Are All Returning Home is one of my SOTY contenders, easily.

Take Refuge is suffering from the production, but I don't think it's the high point, nor the low.

My Fear of an Unlived Life, on the other hand. Song is immense.

Yes, lyrics are absolutely superb here. Renacer was a step in the right direction but this, this is a million times better than the old albums.

The lyrics on this damn record killed my boner once.. Trve story. Everything else (songwriting wise, at least) was pretty damn solid. But, what do I know... Up until fairly recently I believed hardcore was the devil's way of fist-fucking my ears.

I saw these guys yesterday at Warped Tour and they fucking destroyed. They had so much energy and Buddy in particular was just on fire. I ended up buying a copy of this and getting it signed.
