i actually kinda rediscovered SFG last night
it's an easy one to forget being that Thank Me Later kinda took its place as the "actual" debut, but really i think it's kinda better than Thank Me Later
it's more like Take Care, almost, but still some of the good stuff that would be a little more honed (but a little overdone, maybe) on TML

definitely better than thank me later imo

he hasn't really done anything like Karaoke since it came out, unless you count Hold On We're Going Home or something i guess

Karaoke is the shit. Don't know why your making the comparison to Hold On We're Going Home though...
Not a fan of that one.

"Karaoke is the shit. Don't know why your making the comparison to Hold On We're Going Home though... "
because both of 'em had guest producers who weren't really known for hip hop at all, exclusive to those songs on their respective albums + were mostly singing

"so far gone is the shit"
yezzir. Best I Ever Had is still one of my fav songs of his
man i remember when he had his first break on that Trey Songz joint that disappeared into oblivion way back when lol. they had this big spread of him on some teen magazine back in toronto, hyping him up talkin bout "from degrassi to future rap star" or w/e
16 year old self styled hip hop head me laughed like yeah right, he'll probably only have one hit if he's lucky and disappear. now almost 10 years later he's prolly my favorite rapper and undisputed king of the game. funny how things work out
|
| |
I remember when I first heard Drake and I was like "wow the wheelchair dude from Degrassi is actually a really good rapper." First song I heard was Ransom, then Best I Ever Had and I pretty much knew he was a beast. Think I was like 14 or 15 so yeah almost a decade for me too.
