Like Nick Drake, time has told me Fortune 500 is the best song here

I actually liked the album less when I paid attention to the lyrics. Feels like they wanted to have this sonic aesthetic and speak these lyrics but the two don't inform or advance each other. Operating on different planes instead of in opposition.

Also the new single is just... bad. Chorus made me cringe and they didn't develop their sound at all.

Kind of agree about Warm Healer feeling a tad redundant. Still good though.

Agreed. Especially keen on Hapsburg Lippp; lol'd when I looked up what that actually was.

Fun fact: this album was heavily inspired by Yeezus, and Hapsburg Lippp was his Kanye attempt.

Yeah, that horn on Lipp is super Black Skinhead sounding.

t/t > Can't Do > Desire imo

Desire is decent but I think it's not as strong as anything from GtH. I hope the rest of the album is more like the title track

The title track is unbelievably gorgeous. The others were kinda okay, but man that title track is something else. Lovely as hell. I want more like that.

Maybe I have a thing for repetition, but the repetition just works. It’s stunning. Puts me in a hypnotic state. And the electronics in the background shift and swirl. It could be a form of mind control because it sucked me in so hard. One of my favorites this year easily.

The electronics take the importance. They’re just absolutely euphoric. Puts me into a trance. The vocals and lyrics are symbolic, showing us we’re stuck in a dream we are wanting to get out of as it gets more ominous and ominous displayed by the electronics here. That track has floored me and the others didn’t come anywhere close unfortunately. Yeah there’s more they could do such as introduce a second verse, but the dynamics of that song are out of this world

I'm a bit worried the new album is going to be a disappointment. Still great, just not continuing the upward trend...

Looks like they used up all their hooks on this one. First listen of the new record and it's far less catchy or memorable.

Night of the Long Knives, Ivory Towre and A Fever Dream are absolutely killer, it's a super comfy album that seems more tender than their other stuff. I've got a weakness for Good Shot Good Soldier too
