Something More Than Free did chart surprisingly well (if that's what you were trying to point out).
Crossing my fingers for new Isbell next year, he has followed a 2-year album cycle up to now so I hope he doesn't break it.

New album coming this summer! It seems Isbell is branding it as a Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit album so it may be more rock-oriented than this and Something More Than Free.
Hype!

Would you consider this to be ferro-friendly country?

I'd say so - it's not too far off from a folk album in a lot of ways and imo the songwriting and emotion are just out of this world in a way that transcends genre.

"It's cold in this house and I ain't goin' out to chop wood" is just one of the sweetest lines.

I'm so glad you enjoy this, zak and Dylan!
I can't pick a favorite from this, they're all pretty close to perfect in my reckoning. One of the albums of my life this will be. Some of my other 5s I know may not stick with me over the years - this one, no doubt, will.
He released the lead single from the new album yesterday - I'm a bit mixed on it so far but it's growing on me. Definitely one of my most anticipated albums of the year.

Love ya boney.
The country drawl with a lot of stuff can be a bit comical on the ear. Not with this in the slightest though. Songs lived and sung by those who've lived it.
