I haven't ever listened to Thrice. But The Gathering, yes.
Also D-Day Drone is so nice. Am in this weird mood where I wanted to listen to Ulver and Kate Bush so I shuffled all of their stuff in one big crazy playlist. By some weird magic it actually works!

Curious if they were to drop another straight up black metal album what the quality would be like. This is honestly one of the few bands within the extreme metal genre that made a huge shift without really stumbling. Love their discography in general but this one is without a doubt my favorite.

They were so good at that style, yeah. Totally amazing.
Nice thought experiment! I don't think they would go for this kind of lo-fi recording again, so it would be a lot cleaner. That is not to say it would be upbeat and sunny though, haha!
