And as a final note before I head out, I'm not really emotionally invested in this review. I like Envy a good bit but I'm not really torn up if the reviewer didn't like this. For all I know the album is a steaming pile of ass and I'll hate it.

I was just curious what made the album bad and the review itself gave me nothing substantial. Didn't mean to seem like I was just going berserk on a staff review or something. Genuine apology if I came across like I'm attacking here.

I just think it's strange because in the All the Footprints review envy is played up as a legendary screamo act that influenced mounds of other like bands, but here it seems to be said that they were never really worth mentioning or even had recognition. And as far as I can tell, the author has enjoyed most if not all of envy's previous work...what happened between then and now?

Ah, ok. I think it can be jarring for some to see that switch when they only know you by your reviews. I understand why some find them boring but I still dig them a lot, though this is not their best by any means.

I was sarcastic in one comment towards the end of the discussion and was otherwise highly serious. I don't think it's okay for a staff reviewer to 'get snippy' in response to serious criticism concerning what is supposedly high quality writing, when he has just published a review as shabby as this.
