Yeah, no worries man.
And albums that show what the artists are capable of doing are fine, but it takes more skill to hone eclecticism with a consistent statement than it does to record a bunch of dissimilar tracks and throw them on an album. It's not that 'streamlining' the release is necessary, it's that justifying eclecticism beyond 'look what we can do' is more impressive to me than diversity for diversity's sake.
No way is KFaD superior to Angel Dust for me-- and I'm a pretty hardcore FNM fan. Not only does it lack Angel Dust's brilliant track ordering and mood, but a lot of the songs on that album don't do it for me (particularly towards the end of the record), and the production is really dry.

No way is KFAD better than Angel Dust. And I'd also argue that Jim Martin's best guitar work was on The Real Thing, although AD does have some great moments

I LOVE the last half of KFAD!

StrizzMatik: Yeah, you may be right. I've just never gotten that into The Real Thing.
Ugh three ghost negs.

I can't knock Jon Hudson's work on this record. It may not be quite as memorable as some of Martin's work, but he's a much better player and can play pretty much any style without a problem. Cone Of Shame, Matador and Superhero in particular all have really great guitar, and the album in general is a masterclass on tasteful playing.

So happy I can talk about this album now. Been like a month and nowhere to properly vent about its awesomeness. After like 30+ listens by now it totally stands proudly with their better work for me

You could say that consistent type of uncohesiveness makes it cohesive. Liiiike mr. bungle for example.

That's deep, man.
Pos'd your review, lambda.

"You could say that consistent type of uncohesiveness makes it cohesive. Liiiike mr. bungle for example."
You could, but this album really isn't uncohesive musically. It's nowhere near as adventurous as KFaD or Angel Dust. It's uncohesive in the statement-- i.e. the songs exist in their universes and don't add up to any big picture or work off each other.
Thanks Egarran!

Wish you could feel the aesthetic and thematic cohesiveness dude, it's there for sure.

Just can't wait to "legally" listen to this.
Stream "not available in my region".
I only heard Mother and Superhero so far and based on these 2, I already disagree about the songs being too short.
I love them both (especially Super) but I find them a bit too long.
It was "ok" when I was 20 but now, if you have nothing new to bring (verse-chorus-verse-bridge-chorus) then stop the song (I can't listen to STP "core" anymore because of that).
That being said, "Superhero" got me so excited I am scared of being disappointed when hearing the rest...
(I don't get why Angel Dust is so universally recognized as their best...Not because it's not...But because I'm having a hard time deciding between AD and KFAD).
(Hope my English isn't too bad)
