Louise Louisa is a great song but it's not one of my favorite Mew songs. It's a great closer nonetheless. The vocal part is great though I can't really tell he's crying. I think the swirling synths make me feel more than the lines there. They're rather ominous. I guess albums in terms of journey and flow, I prefer Mae's The Everglow. Don't really think they're similar, but it's stitched together similarly and feels like an epic journey, but it's more catchy pop songs
By no means am I hating on the album. I love it. I just think it's their weakest album.

@minty, what line does Jonas cry on?
Listening to the new album now. First impressions aren't great, but the opener and In A Better Place are the main standouts so far.

New album is a hard 2.0 imo

Lol no.

It's fucking disgraceful. This had interesting performances but the overtly hazy, reverby production did not help it. New album doesn't have the songwriting abilities to make up for the lazy, boring production.

I hope someone reviews this for discussion soon. I wouldn't want to review it jut because I can't help but think it may be a bit of a grower. It sits at like a 3 for me though.

How did that get so many bumps so quickly?

the bit where he cries is the "stay" on the second "stay with me, dont want to be alone" near the end. the first "stay" is quite bold and projected, but the second "stay" is weak and wimpering, because he was crying as he was singing it. he asked the producer to try another take at recording it but the producer said no, it has to stay in because its honest. and im glad it stayed in. song is GOAT.

You know the more I hear Visuals the more In a Better Place creeps up for me. It's not my favorite on the album but it's creeping up there. It used to be at the tail-end, but it's definitely subtly gorgeous.

I think the conclusion it reaches is really nice, albeit short lived

I also listened to GHK again today, Minty. It's still not my favorite, though I can see where it might be others' favorite. It's definitely their most Radiohead album. Louise Louisa is definitely gorgeous, really forgot how good it was, but it's still not their best. It's a bit scatterbrained. I think The Seething Rain Weeps for You is my favorite from that album and it's definitely in my favorites from Mew now. I want a song full of that chorus

disappointing album tbh
there are some strong songs (wake of life, learn our crystals, zanzibar) but most of it is just mediocore and sounds like b-sides

Visuals is damn good. Give it time.

Thankfully, I liked it from the start. The only thing I'm not fond of is Ay Ay Ay.
GHK has some amazing songs, but I feel it often tries too hard. Like, Seething Rain is pretty perfect, but then it has that boring ending, removing all momentum.

Yeah, liked it from the start, too. Been listening to it non-stop since it leaked.

Yeah. GHK is a mixed bag and my least favorite for that reason. Louise Louisa is a wonderful closer but it's momentum is all over the place I'll agree. Still a stellar track though. Been listening to Visuals since the leak too, and Mew as a whole. Such an incredible band.
Also +- still doesn't deserve lowest score. This album is killer. I probably listen to this or NMS the most of their stuff.

It's hard to say what Mew is the worst.
Their level is suprisingly high and consistent, even if some aspects of their sound are like garlic to a vampire to me: Afrobeat. Saxophone. That one keyboard sound at the start of 85 Videos.

I've taken a moment and Rows is the best song ever written. It truly is.

Better listen again to be sure.
Also, I really like Visuals. Need a review to spread some hype.
I just hope it will not by that mean person Doofus W.

If I get the inspiration I may do it. I personally prefer writing sound offs to reviews. I'm not good at fluffing. I'm more of a to-the-point guy
