In fairness this is one of me most re-purchased albums as a result of loss, worn out copy and sentimentality .

I couldn't live without it.

There's only one PJ release I have rated that isn't a 5, and that's Backspacer. Even though I love it from start to finish, there's just a quality to it that I can't quite put my finger on that makes it not a 5 for me. I have 30 PJ releases (studio, boots, and live) and I can truly say I could listen to my entire collection in order and enjoy every second of it.

At least you have Backspacer as their lowest rated album. I don't get the "Pearl Jam back in form" comments for that album especially after the way underrated "Avocado" album. It's the only PJ album that I dont love.

I never saw Pearl Jam as having a "form", so it was always odd to me when people were expecting a certain musical direction from them on an album. I see them as sort of a Led Zeppelin type of group, where they don't ascribe to any one genre, and I think that's something they aimed to do (noted in their documentary, if I recall correctly). One track could be hard rock, the next could be a folky country song, but it's still Pearl Jam all the same, and for that reason, to me, it's wonderful.

Also, yes @ Avocado statement. I love that record so much (obviously). Riot Act gets a lot of shit as well, and I think it's unwarranted.
