Nah they are good. I honestly don’t get the he is legend comparison either other than they sing scream. There is no southern vibe whatsoever

yeah it's more of a comparison to I Am Hollywood HIL which was less openly southern rock than their later works, and mostly in reference to both having vaguely mathy, "lolsorandom" energy

You know, as much as HiL gets talked about being a southern rock/core band, they only really did it a bit on Iam, a lot on Suck out the Poison, and then mostly dropped it until White Bat

I forget what the EP sounds like, mostly because I didn't like it very much

They always have had (save for IAH) that kind of sludgy, bluesy southern feel. I'd say it's only been at the forefront for SOTP and White BAT, though.

I felt like they dropped it almost completely for It Hates You, and then had a more bluesy vibe on Fruit, and Few was very metalish but less riffy. It's been a bit since I have jammed the middle sect of their discog, tho

I dunno, they have been thru a fair amount of sounds but still keep that HiL vibe going on each album. I always appreciate a band that can pull that off

Maybe I hear it because I think it's there. But yeah, few bands that's I can pick a random album and listen to it front to back.

They incorporate a lot of blues into their sound on every album even it hates you, blues originated in the south, hence the southern vibes.

Sotp was oozing with southern influence but it’s still easy to hear on all of their albums

Easiest one to hear on It Hates You is China White III. Love that song

The build up after the bridge to the "And I'll deserve every bit, because I'm not spiritual yet I'm just reading the lines they gave me from the pulpit" lyric is literal perfection

literal perfection [2]

goosebumps from "We'll wait for you to come back home" onward. You know it's gonna pop off and it does.

that said if there's one track I keep coming back to it's Molotov, that chorus is just masterful.
