My post happened when I was still on the last page. But this was a good combo with the diarrhea and everything.

Although not a ground-breaking album for Opeth, "Ghost Reveries" is sure to stand out to every fan of the band. The mystical qualities of previous Opeth albums are found here, as well as the dream-like instrumentals that can quickly transition into hellish landscapes that fans of the band all know and love. One significate praise I have for this album is the production. Every instrument cuts through as clear as day while maintaining its harmonious chunkiness. Also, I could listen to "Atonement" until the end of my days. That guitar line is one of the most beautiful guitar lines I have ever heard.

Well said. Their dm albums all had impeccable production.

Perhaps not ground breaking for Opeth, but definitely for me. Music and production are impeccable. Also, Martin Lopez work on this is amazing. I'm not a musician but there is something that pulls me into his use of the drums.

Lopez's drumming is phenomenal and fits the tone of this album perfectly.

I'd also add that this is, in my opinion, Opeth's most accessible death metal album. If someone is looking to get into the heavier Opeth material, I'd recommend this one.

Or they could just listen to the far superior Blackwater Park

I agree that Blackwater Park is better than this one, but I think this has a much more accessible sound to those unfamiliar with Opeth. I think Blackwater Park may be too much for beginners to digest.
