Yeah. Baying of the hounds was the one that tuned me into the more metal stuff. To say that this album then grew on me would be an understatement.

Still prefer the earlier stuff though and heritage obvs.

He loves Orchid more than life itself (maybe a slight exaggeration).

One of the few bands where the between-song banter is almost as fun as the music. Devin Townsend is another one like that. And I know I'll probably catch shit for it, but Enema-era Blink-182 was too.

My brother said he was great bants live, wish I'd been there

I've realised my problem (if you can call it that) with Opeth is that I'm the opposite of zak - just a couple of songs are enough to satisfy me for a decent while and making it through a whole album seems like a slog. I'll sit down to this, BWP or Morningrise sometime and see if I get over myself...

I'm the same way. When I'm in an Opeth mood I generally just listen to two or three songs from different albums, and then I move on.

Love how diverse people are. I cannot imagine only a couple of songs being enough. Ever.

Whole album or fudge off. I’m always like that, but when I’m in an Opeth mood that’s it, no half-arsing. In fact sometimes only 2 or 3 albums consecutively will satisfy me.

Yea I agree, these days I like listening to full albums. With bands like Opeth and BTBAM, I think they make it very hard to listen to individual songs. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
