Also why can't people rate/review an album based on first impressions? I'd actually to see how malleable people's opinion of an album is after a first listen, second, fifth, tenth, fiftieth.

ya its dumb

my opinions of an album in terms of a rating out of ten rarely change after first listen

could i write a well written in depth review at that point

if i was familiar with the artist and genre and the history yeah probably if i were so inclined

which im not but this fella did a good job

@ComeToDaddy: I've been heavily editing for an hour before dropping this. Hit me with your feedback tho, I'm a little embarrassed about that considering I've been doing better on fixing these mistakes. I never fanboy on a record too, not a huge fan of Kendrick actually like others.

I mean my opinions change, but that's usually from overspinning an album. Either way nine times out of ten, my first impressions are usually more or less in line with how I tend to perceive an album even after dozens upon dozens of listens.

it's like there's always a race to review something first, when most of the time it results in really subpar reviews

Yeah that's cool man, and I'm glad to hear you're working on it. I didn't pos or neg, since a bit of work would shape this up into a great review. I don't have a major issue with quick reviews if they're well thought out, but definitely remove any lines insinuating it takes time to grow on you. That time hasn't passed yet.

"not a huge fan of Kendrick actually like others" is a bit iffy though, because those 2 opening sentences basically malign anyone who didn't find GKMC a classic. You also miswrote it anyway, since "If you don't think otherwise" is a double negative and you're saying that people who think it is a classic are on something.

"an idol in which aspiring rapper". Change to "that", "in which" makes no sense there.

"on the issues of which America". Again makes no sense, change "on which" to "that".

"being like the many in his hometown of Compton and of what is wrong with it". Not sure what you were saying, but again, there's no sentence structure here. It's really haphazard.

"the injustice in which African Americans have been forced to face as of recent", this is the second time you've misused "in which", and there's a third time immediately after thr hyphon in the same sentence.

"Trayvon Martin", "Common". If you don't have space to flesh out these people, or give some background to the reader, try not to name-drop too much. A lot of people reading the review wont know what you're talking about, it's a bad habit to get into (a habit which I used to have too).

"it is absolutely mind-blowing what you're getting here." This is straight fanboying, contrary to what you said. Try to use descriptors, not hyperboles.

Not criticism, but just pausing to say I loved that 3rd paragraph. I don't know if you wrote that in advance when that track dropped but it's really well-written (: but remove that closing sentence for sure.

"It's much different than in his previous". Should be changed to "It's very different to his previous", flows a lot better.

"was layered in more West Coast G-Funk and R&B". Sentence feels really incomplete, shifting it around to read "which contained layers of" would be a lot stronger.

Not going to keep going, for the sake of space, but you get the drill. Just give it a careful read and clear up all these problems, the content is great so cleaning up the medium would help the review an enormous amount (: sorry if any of that came off harsh man. Feel free to hit me up in the proofreading threads or shoutbox in the future if you're not confident with a review.

@ComeToDaddy: Thanks man, and no it wasn't where I was confident because I was. Some of the mistakes you're mentioning, those ended up like this because I honestly write what I speak. You know what I mean? But yeah that does embarrass me because I'm always on top of reducing mistakes, which I thought I did because I heavily edited this and trimmed the fat off these paragraphs.
