Wait, people think Georgie Fruit is Kevin Barnes? lol

Kevin is one of the humblest dudes you will ever meet, and ultra-sweet to his fans. You have no idea.

yeah, Kevin is a sweetheart. Reminds me a lot of David Bowie. Ego-tripper, but all my favorite musicians/artists are egotistical. Skeletal Lamping has a swell self-awareness and it's schizophrenic mood swings & shifts make it one of the best pop albums of all time. Like if all the big pop artists of the last several decades were morphed, prodded, deconstructed, dissected, and then sewn back together and made into a "tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing".

Lots of amazing parts on this album, but the best of all is the middle minute of Aluminum Crown

As much as I really like pretty much everything on here. It's kind of cemented in place as my least favorite of Montreal full-length, so I can see why people don't really like it. I feel like this probably could have been an EP, with some of the weaker tracks saved for another B-side compilation down the road. How much of a fanboy am I jesus, still a 4.5.

The semi-good news is that the Lousy / Aureate lineup is no more, so I think Kevin is going to go back to creating everything himself in the studio (hopefully) like he did from Hissing Fauna through Paralytic Stalks. He posted a clip to Instagram earlier and it sounds very promising to me.

Sorry, but this record was far better than Lousy. These guys haven't put out anything good like this and cohesive in a very long time since Satanic Panic in the Attic or Hissing Fauna.

From the album cover to the material on it, this was definitely one of their better sounding and strongest records after many years.

This was probably the best record to come out last year compared to Titus Andronicus' mile long record.
