PT aren't bad, obviously, but the more I listen to them, the more I realize they didn't add a lot to that whole "alternative prog" sound. They strike me these days as being more of a prog-tinged alt metal band (in their later years, mostly) than the other way around. And as much as I hate to say it, the alternative aspects really drag the band down imo

Wilson's solo material may have a lot of 70s worship, but I still find it much more adventurous and experimental

I went through a short-lived phase with that sort of mindset about PT and Wilson’s solo material a few years ago, but thankfully I passed it and PT is one of my top 5 favorite bands. Some of the metal stuff isn’t that great tho I’ll admit, and the lyrics can be spotty especially in the 00s albums.

I just saw him live a couple of days ago and it blew me the fuck away. I've been in many concerts in my lifetime, and his was probably one of the best. If not the best.

That song really is the only song worth on this album really. I mean, there are some other songs that are decent, but really the title track is the only one that should be found in a top somethingsomething.

I feel the opposite, t/t is my least favorite full song on here but I like it a lot still, especially the instrumental bridge..

Routine and Ancestral are the two truly great songs on here. They stand head and shoulders above the rest. The other songs are solid enough but those ones are really special.
