I am pretty new to most of Rundgren, I grew up with Something/Anything, but never looked into other Todd besides for the hits. I found some vinyl of his lately so started picking some up. This is spectacular as is the similarly themed Faithfully, except the covers are one whole side. Very good chill music, dude knew how to write a song, and I see the Carole King similarity
"making recent editions of the album the version to get."
Original version is ALWAYS the version to get, It sounds like it is supposed to, He gives a caveat on the record jacket that warns of the sound quality, just need to turn it up a tad,

"Original version is ALWAYS the version to get"
the remaster fixes the fidelity issue that the original and the older iterations of the CDs had actually, and even then, finding a good quality of the original Robert Ludwig pressing is getting to be more difficult actually
besides, what does Rundgren know about good audio quality? He's the anti-Neil Young when it comes to this.

all of the last part of the comment proves my point exactly I am lucky enough to have a first run pressing, or at least from 73, it is in the wax, not that I care, but it sounds good, and if it is a little thin, or faint, who cares it won't sound that much better anyway, plus it has that sound, better sound quality sometimes ruins the feeling.
I'm sure it is cool though, I have no digital Todd

I mean I'd post a sample to go off of but the entire first half is one entire suite with only one piece that remotely resembles a complete song
but I suppose

Todd was closer to the fringes of progressive rock with this and some of the following works
he started more of a singer/songwriter type and with Something/Anything? became a studio wizard of types
figures he peaked far too early and lost his touch by the end of the decade
