I remember looking for Chinese music one night to see what it was like and running into Tang Dynasty and being like "wtf China has metal? How?" I don't know why it seemed so ridiculous that China had metal but it just was.
| | | out of 1.35 billion people at least one person's bound to make some metal
| | | Yeah no It's not my fav genre but imo Asian rap is basically a cheap imitation of the big rap/r&b artists around the world , the only exception is CL cause damn

The Last Successor's s/t is some great Chinese Metal.

Been trying to find a stream for that, couldn't find it on Xiami which I thought was odd. Do they have a native Chinese name?

Try 末裔. Note I brought the album since the packaging for the album is gorgeous so I don't know if you can find the album.
| | | CL is horrible man, at least check out some actual Asian hip hop instead of saying stuff like that and only mentioning grating k-pop that happens to have some rapping over the top
For Korean hip hop you gotta at least get down to Jazzyfact - Lifes Like, classic album

@CalculatingInfinity yep, found it that time.

Why does everyone hate this album? I love every single song on there (with the exception of paper planes). I like the lyrics, the melodies, the vocals, and the talent of all the band members. I personnally enjoyed listening to this album and even downloaded it!
Sure, it's not their best album, but it, without a doubt, doesn't deserve a 1 star. I dont think there's one person out there that GENUINELY thinks the album is worth 1 star... -.- There are amazing songs like "Cry Out" and "Mighty Long Fall". There are also so many other albums out there that set the bar so low that they make this album look like gold. Everyone is exaggerating with this!
And I understand that people hate this album because it became "pop". PLEASE. You want to hear real pop? listen to one direction. This album RANGES from pop to hard rock. And that's why lots of people like it. Anyway, what's the big deal if the band added more pop into the album, it's not like it's automatically "horrible" just because you dont like pop. Such ignorance.
Also, i'd like to clarify WHY i think this album is worse than their previous one. Sure, it's not the hardest they've worked on an album.. But that's not the only thing. I honestly think it's because of the new American producer, John Feldmann. This is the same guy that works for 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER. A pop band. And that's why I think the album turned out so much more "commercialized" Too much voice edititing and stuff. I don't like him.
And that's not all. I also have the explanation for "PAPER PLANES". (This is something i heard online, i'm not sure if it's 100% true).
Taka initially didn't like the song Paper Planes. He didn't want it on the album and didn't want to record it because he didn't like it. And that's not hard to believe since it's far from ONE OK ROCK's style. But their manager (or producer, i'm not sure), decided that Taka WILL put the song on the album for more promotion. As you know, this song is featuring Kellin from Sleeping with Sirens. Therefore, will get more views. This is why the band never preforms this live. They don't like the song.
And there you go. Now that I got that off my chest, I can give an overall review. I rate this 4/5 stars. I want to rate it more but i'm trying to be realistic. I really love this album!

"and even downloaded it!"
Hell, that must have been hard.
They don't like "Paper Planes" for good reason. Nothing against Kellin, the track just doesn't sound ok.

"and even downloaded it!"
I'm dying, hahaha xD
"Why does everyone hate this album?"
Umm...read the review?
"I dont think there's one person out there that GENUINELY thinks the album is worth 1 star... -.-"
1.5 is not a 1, learn to count
"And I understand that people hate this album because it became "pop". PLEASE. You want to hear real pop? listen to one direction."
No we don't, stop putting words in our mouths. We're disappointed because it's a strip back in sound, a regression from energy from their previous efforts to finding soulless production and obnoxious sometimes lyrically. A regression isn't being pop.
"You want to hear real pop? listen to one direction."
At least provide a good example like Michael Jackson
"Such ignorance."
Nope more like you getting butthurt the instant you see a low rating for an album you love and throw accusations which are baseless.
"Also, i'd like to clarify WHY i think this album is worse than their previous one. Sure, it's not the hardest they've worked on an album.. But that's not the only thing. Agreed that it made the album far worse however all because he's a producer from a Pop band will automatically make it bad production wise.
"And that's not all. I also have..."
Don't care, it doesn't excuse that abysmal song being on the album.

"Why does everyone hate this album?"
I wrote a review on why ffs
"I like the lyrics, the melodies, the vocals, and the talent of all the band members. I personnally enjoyed listening to this album"
Good for you man, I don't, lots of other people don't.
"and even downloaded it!"
lol did you pay for it or what? Cause if not then whoopty shit.
"Sure, it's not their best album, but it, without a doubt, doesn't deserve a 1 star."
I gave it a 1.5 but w/e, I spent a couple of paragraphs explaining why I think it does, in fact, deserve a 1 star.
"I dont think there's one person out there that GENUINELY thinks the album is worth 1 star... -.-"
well, the site's ratings sure say otherwise
"There are amazing songs like "Cry Out" and "Mighty Long Fall""
those songs suck ass imo
"There are also so many other albums out there that set the bar so low that they make this album look like gold. Everyone is exaggerating with this!"

That in no way means that this isn't an awful album dude.
"And I understand that people hate this album because it became "pop"."
umm... no
"PLEASE. You want to hear real pop? listen to one direction."
Awful suggestion and for your information, myself and pretty much everyone else in this thread, listen to plenty of "real" pop.
"This album RANGES from pop to hard rock. And that's why lots of people like it."
Liking something because it's a certain genre is a terrible reason for liking something and I can assure you, that that is not why people enjoy this.
"Anyway, what's the big deal if the band added more pop into the album, it's not like it's automatically "horrible" just because you dont like pop. Such ignorance."
I repeat, EVERYONE IN THIS THREAD LISTENS TO AND ENJOYS PLENTY OF POP MUSIC Who's the ignorant one here? Did you even actually read the review or what?
"Also, i'd like to clarify WHY i think this album is worse than their previous one. Sure, it's not the hardest they've worked on an album.. But that's not the only thing. 1.) No one cares. 2.) The producer didn't make this album terrible guy, it's a poorly written album with next to no redeeming features, within the context of this band or not.
"Taka initially didn't like the song Paper Planes. He didn't want it on the album and didn't want to record it because he didn't like it. Yeah, so they sold out, like I infer in the review.

Ok go ahead, review it. Also damn, if you want to rate it higher go ahead, no one's stopping you.

Also did you seriously neg my review? Unless you can give me a good rundown on why this is poorly written, that's pretty fucking petty.

Cry Out is alright, but the entire album feels so bland.
Also, great review mate.

Clear drop from previous works.

Zankyo Reference is the best album. 35xxxv didn't even sound like OOR, more like a generic american alternative rock band. Ballads were okay, nothing special compared to Pierce (best ballad). Stuck in the middle would have been a good song if it wasn't autotuned to death, same with mighty long fall. Maybe they were aiming for an American sound for their first North American released album? Definitely their worst album by a solid margin.
