But nevertheless they beat these guys all over.

Can someone point out where the irony is in this?
A fine question.
This is a good EP. Not as good as their debut album, but it's very much in the same sort of vein, which is a good thing. This Message Edited On 04.30.06

The irony is the title of the EP.
|
| |
thankyou! theres another part where one post mentions where the pistols went on tv just to say f**k, now kiddies take a long look at the title of this ep!
|
| |
As far as I'm concerned the Sex Pistols has a reason to swear but the title of this EP is unacceptable.
|
| |
correct, its purely a marketing gimmick to stimulate interest!
and if anyone rattles on about the pistols oh what about never mind the "bollocks" then you truely dont understand the english lanuage!
|
| |
Aside from that the Sex Pistols were a group of obnoxious baffoons that got a kick from offending people and they were Punk, it's the least you'd expect from them.
|
| |
The 'Arctic Monkeys' are the definition of shit hyped up to sound like white gold.
|
| |
Well written, but it seemed more like an advertisement wrapped in a biography than a review.
|
| |
Rock giants such as The Who, The Strokes and Bob Dylan
ahahahahaha
|

What album name isn't about stimulating intrest? If the Arctic Monkeys are marketing genius' than more power to them.
|
| |
Yeah calling out the Strokes in as a rock giant wasn't the smartest thing, especially when sandwiching them between Dylan and The Who.

I heard someone say that using the word fuck in their EP title was unacceptable...why? In the space of a year they are now the biggest band in Britain and are stamping their mark on the world. Many people asked that very question when they first came out, now look where they are.
Also, as for that chosen title, everyone is reading too much into it by comparing them to the Sex Pistols and all that, They are from a working-class Sheffield, so their natural spoken language contains a lot of swear words that might offend the delicate little ears of some members on here. This title is nothing more than an everyday phrase spoken in the working class language.
|
| |
More like gutter language, but hey you crazy brits.
Also irony: American Cities: Fuck all the time, suburbia: nothing.
British cities: high class ha ta ta, Suburbia, fuckland. weird
|
| |
Not being rude, but I think it's a cultural transition that Americans don't quite get.
|
| |
i think they might be one hit wonders.
they are a great band but can they make another album as good as whatever people say i am.

That's fine in Britain, I guess, but in America you don't really swear on official titles/documents/primetime stuff. It's viewed as, well, crass. It's a culture thing, its not because we have "delicate little ears"

I'm from a British family, but I was actually born and live in Australia, over here and back in Britain, especially if your from a working-class background like myself (which is why I relate to this band), anything goes, it's pretty out-in-the-open. I don't have a clue why American's don't accept such 'crass' subjects, but on the other hand, generate the most controversy in the world...summat to make you think.
|
| |
I don't really think American vocabulary has anything to do with foreign policy.
In any case, the title is rude in America. That's all people were saying
