funny that you say that kalk, while I totally agree with your point it reminded me of my brother was obsessed over that little melody line that didnt even sound particularly good for me. Took him like half a year to learn how to play it (at the time he was really shit with guitar) and to my knowledge is his go to warm-up excersice to this day

Returning to these two albums they're pretty fucking fantastic. I'll definitely have to do a write up on the story sometime.

deafheaven has like 20 10+ minute songs
and "omega" is better than all of them

Arguably their best album for sure, if not, their most consistent. Also, Omega over Reptile any day! That song is an absolute monster, I love it!
And Graveless is under-appreciated, that thing soars! Awesome album, shame it feels more like an EP to be honest.

See I feel like Reptile drags itself out too much (still full of fantastic moments though!) But even now, Omega still seems incredibly fresh and unpredictable for an 11 minute song.
I remember when it first dropped, I was hoping it would indicate their direction for the next album but I was way off lol

hmmm I def don't think reptile drags... in fact I think its strength is the way it builds to and transitions from each different passage (sorta 2112-esque)
omega feels more btbam kitchen sink type song (which i wouldn't say is a bad thing!) but reptile feels more unique
also the verses of reptile got that hard rock ETID/he is legend type vibe which they pull off hilariously well

Omega into Stranger Things is the best one-two-punch by Periphery. Try and prove me wrong.
