Dude, it's feral as hell live. One of the better heavier tracks on this, too.

Not saying it isn't charged, but it leans a little on the dumb side.

No I'm not joking I love that track. Like being pummeled with a sledgehammer for 3 minutes and it's so pissed off that I just want to mosh throughout the entire thing. Sure any Nu Metal band could have written the track in theory but in execution the filthy production and Kyo's vox shoot it to the stratosphere.

Also Tour 08 version yay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD1i_v_EM3o

It doesn't have to 'smart' to be good.

So do most heavy tracks on this album, cuz Kyo decided English gibberish is the way to go, lol.

Don't get it myself. The softer tracks like Conceived Sorrow are my sort of jam on here. So damn good.

Well, it was right after their first US tour and I remember Kaoru saying somewhere that the label kinda wanted more English lyrics, but the singer isn't exactly an expert in it and the westernized modern metalcore sound they aimed for here doesn't really ask for anything too poetic. The softer songs are absolute jams and actually have some nice lyrics if you look for translations.

I remember when I first got into these guys, there was a point where this was my fave album by them. These days it feels a little generic to me, but, like you say, it's down to what they were trying to accomplish at the time.

The song is exactly what it needs to be. Stupidly fun.

@Dr: Yeah Sorrow is great on here and Namamekashiki is my fav. A bunch of parts being not well performed/constructed is the thing that really holds this back, can get generic sometimes. The Grief to Root run is especially a chore, however on the plus side every single song on here minus Fatal Believer has had an amazing or incredible live performance so these songs can be brought to much greater heights.

Haha yeah, 0:45 gave me chills and the Maggots sounded so good and energetic.

This album has so many highlights. Quite a few low points but I'm sure in a live setting it'll be incredible (as many of their live performances of these songs have remedied the issues).

Yeah I can't wait for this. Tour 08 had a superb showing of Marrow songs so I wonder how they'll compare to them.

Tough competition with those ones and the renditions scattered in the 2011-2013 discs.

I have faith it will be quality material regardless. As for competition 10/13 of the songs here have a chance to have the best version of said song on it whether it being very difficult (Sorrow, Disabled) or guaranteed (Fatal).

Namamekashiki on Mode Marrow was one of the best performances Dir have ever done in their whole career. Super fun show, get on it.

Maybe that's too high a praise, but one of the best on the Mode disc anyway.
