I definitely don't think the mix is that offensive at all

I cant believe they managed to have the guitars too low on In Lak'ech and now too high on this rerecording, original mix is better.

I think they're both entertaining for their own reasons. Mix in the new one is fine for me.

It's not just the guitars, everything besides the keys it seems have been slammed to maximum loudness, it is soo much louder than the original mix it's insane, ok I'm not saying the new mix cant grow on me but the mix is far from perfect

Of course it's not perfect, but I believe part of the point of the album was to increase the volume. For better or worse, they wanted to address how comparatively thin this record sounds. That's part of the charm of this, true, but I think the care they give in their transitioning to a louder sound is pulled off expertly.

Wish that last section before the acoustic outro in the closer was a bit longer. I was really loving that riff, and it seemed like a killer solo was gonna come in, and then it just kinda... faded out. Sweet album aside though, doesn't quite reach the highs of Core imo but it's a nice precursor to it.

I've only heard this and Core so far but Core is amazing and this ain't too far off either. I've also heard bits and pieces of Shin-Ken and I think I'm gonna love that one too on a full listen. Band's incredible, dunno why I waited so long to get into their stuff but I'm glad I did.
