It may be the charm and I get the fashion of the disc but 20 years have gone and now the sound got fashionably old if not annoying.

Yeah tuna I meant that, it's not? anyway that's the best one

A few of these songs hold up surprisingly well production-wise, especially Human Behavior

Bjork changes on pretty much every album, but it's particularly amazing to watch the transformation from this to Post to Homogenic.

I'd say Vespertine was a pretty interesting progression as well, all 4 are essential listening

There's the Christgau of Italy, Scaruffi, that thinks she's overrated as fuck:

"We must admit she has been very good at absorbing and recycling styles and techniques of modern music in order to impose her personality. If we wanted to analyze Bjork’s career, Madonna could indeed be taken as a model. In fact, Bjork’s strategy (rather than her sound) is the same as Madonna’s. If Madonna is the symbol of alternative, provocation, affront, in a word the punk aesthetics, then Bjork is the symbol of mainstream, alignment, compliance, in a word the return to middle-class values after the punk movement. Bjork does not upset the public, she entertrains it. If Madonna’s message was coarsely obvious, then Bjork’s is subliminal, but nonetheless in step with the mood of her days. Bjork can rely on a stunning voice and some creative arrangers. In the productions of both artists, music has a subordinate role."

The Madonna comparison is fucking provocative but the last two sentences are kinda true

Because Bachelorette sounds completely recycled.

Wait lol, Homogenic is his fav:

"the album Homogenic (Elektra, 1997) finally presents Bjork as a mature composer. Not only her voice is the protagonist again, but this time the producers have become slaves to her whims. The resulting songs are less related to trendy music and more consistent with the emotions that Bjork is trying to convey."

As most music critics, he's a jerk and has a questionable 90s fashioned website. But at least he argues why he likes or dislikes stuff. http://www.scaruffi.com/vol6/bjork.html

"Despite the humble premises, this album ends up sounding pretentious like the previous ones."

What is unique about this music database?

Unlike other music databases...

... it provides truly independent opinions, and from a historical perspective. I am a cultural historian (I teach history of knowledge), not a "fan". For example, i do not promote all recordings (or films) as masterpieces. As a matter of fact, i am aware that the vast majority of recordings and films are just about mediocre and very few deserve recognition (even fewer deserve your money). Musicians are often offended by my critiques and their publicists often complain, but that does not change the merits of their recordings, and therefore my assessment of those recordings. (I find way too many webpages, especially on Wikipedia, that have obviously been "fine tuned" according to the desires of the musician. Basically a lot of bios and reviews on the Web are simply becoming press releases by the musicians themselves).

I'm not sure if he's just deluded, but I very much doubt that artists' publicists are complaining about one site that's giving criticism to their albums. It would be like an artist complaining to the founders of sputnik because one user gave a negative review of an album.

Weeeell.. Scaruffi is actually on the same level of resonance that Christgau has.

He's also famous for being THE beatles hater, lol.
