Great review, I love Cloudkicker but I lost a lot of interest after Beacons (actually by the time Beacons came out I was already beginning to find his approach kinda predictable).

Most of his albums are solid so I'll probably check this out.

The songwriting on this compared to Subsume is just not there. It isn't bad though.

Yeah its not bad. But in comparison to his stellar back catalogue its a bit 'meh'. Feels underwhelming when you know what hes capable of and Ive been listening to the live record a lot lately so maybe that why. Still a solid release.

I think he put this out just for the hell of it, to get something out there. he just did the live with intronaut album so we can't really expect him to release something that's fully realized in such a short amount of time. his next full length will be tits guaranteed

Subsume and Beacons are on the same level for me. Beacons has amazing melodies and good track pacing while subsume's progressions are just a continuous stellar movement.

Yeah, while I enjoy Subsume, I never crave it like I do a lot of his other albums, like Beacons, Portmanteau, Fade, ]][[.

I absolutely love a few songs on this, and can't wait for his next full release. Per his last interview, he had a lot of creative juices flowing during the tour so I think he really did just put this out there to get those ideas out.
