I don't know what to think of this, it's so different from the agression-fest the band promised lol
But it was interesting on second listen so I'll press onwards

Crazy pills are awesome. I take em right after I have my Faith (Lolly)Pops that I get from the Family Christian Store

First 5 tracks had me thinking this was tied with BSN but then Nesting Dolls came on and I lost it. Think they really nailed their sound on this album

Good album... needs a while to to grow on you.
As far as ranking their albums, who gives a fuck? They are one of the most consistent bands out their album to album. I think most would agree BSN is the best (most variety in style/songwriting, best production) but after that the rest are all pretty much interchangeable. I find Juturna repetitive and copy/paste but apparently everyone else here loves it since it reminds them of high school or some shit.

I love how every two years I can restart my ranting about how inconsistent a band this is. Their albums are always top-heavy with mid-sections that put you to sleep. And now I can say it again.

true okay yeah aha
but i'm here just to hang with RoRo, tbh

Only the Sun and Quiet Down put you to sleep but Always Begin and Child of the Desert don't? The only thing I find inconsistent here is everyone's opinion when it comes to Circa albums. I truly do not understand statements like that. I get that everyone is different but to like certain songs so much more than others when it comes to Circa is just odd to me. I have my favorites and least favorites. But none of their songs are so far removed from the rest that I can't appreciate them in some way. Unless you're referring solely to songs like Nesting Dolls and Phantom, which I could sort of understand. I wouldn't agree that they are boring in the slightest... but I'd get it.

Great review,
I love Circa Survive and the album is awesome, but it feels like a very short album even though it has a 50 minute run time.
Sovereign Circle is currently my favourite at the moment

Thanks Rick! I do wish this had at least one more full track, but hey... wanting more isn't a bad problem to have! I actually felt like Sovereign Circle was the weakest track on the album on my first listen but I must have been zoning out because it's amazing. It's one of my favorites already. The only track I still haven't entirely warmed up to yet is Descensus. It's certainly a great song, but I always loved the subject matter and tone of Circa's closing tracks and this one hasn't impacted me in the same way yet.
