Why? I'm not surprised at all, I knew Jac was gonna write this review and obviously cos it's Jac it's a great review to showcase that opinion. I have some minor nitpicks though:

"In the absence of Waters and the late Richard Wright" Wright may be dead but this album is literally based entirely off recordings of him so I don't think it's really correct to say it's "in the absence of" him

"The overarching themes that made Floyd of Old so poignant" Any reason Old is capitalised?

Otherwise, mindpos, great review to explain the faults with this (which I agree with, really) and I'll have mine up soonish

Jac does a Pink Floyd review.......what the fuck?

A really damn good one at that. You really summed up the album for me with this statement:

However, while artistically succinct, the album is neither peripheral enough to function as ambient, nor climactic enough to function as prog, and what we’re left with is an album that is – to sum it up in one word – nice. Not emotive or engaging, just nice.

Bang on my friend! You have officially transcended my perspective on your taste in music hahahaha.

"the album is a largely instrumental affair"

Hmmm... that's interesting.

Album has 2 or 3 songs that work as stand-alone tracks. Band obv didn't care for this to be the epitome of artistic genius and it should show in the ratings.

"The Endless River contains none of the depth that characterised the albums it supposedly pays tribute to"

picked this up but haven't listened yet. being that they're easily one of my 5 favorite bands ever I was going to buy this regardless, but I'm not expecting anything on the level of their earlier output. just interested to hear it. good review Jaq m/

This so hard Inveigh, that's why I'm scared to listen to this. Will prob procrastinate on it for a while.

Division bell was a much better way to end their legacy but this certainly has its moments

well i mean i'm not viewing this as their "last album" -- that's still Division Bell to me. this is like some posthumous b-side stuff but still interesting to check out

This has the same rating as the featured Nickelback review. Pink Floyd=Nickelback.
