Cuz you'll hate his more experimental stuff and I'll have to yell at you about my favorite artist ever... trust me, while Hot Rats and Apostrophe are wonderful albums, they're also stabs at commercialism from him, and he's usually much weirder, especially in the 60s

malkmus really squeezed out what little edge was left in the whole "college rock" thing and i always got the sense like he really wanted to be cobain level famous but pavements still great pop songwriting. pixies are also a pop band too they were just more subversive, more musical
