I usually disagree with a lot of SomeGuyDude's points, but I'm kinda leaning towards his argument a bit here.

Seriously, if you guys want to claim plagiarism, then that means Logic broke the law and should be financially liable for his actions. Put together some proof, show the chord progressions and beat construction that Logic stole, pull up hunks of lyrics that match Kendrick's. Just because they're stylistically similar means squat.

FFS if you could call musicians plagiarists for sounding similar or having similar topics to previous albums then every single trap rap album that's come out in the last 9 years is plagiarized.

And again, mild aping of a single album is incredibly minor in comparison to aping another performer so much that people actually believe that to be you. If you're saying Logic needed to "cite" GKMC on UP then Droog needed to "cite" Nas for literally everything he's ever done.

dont rate an album for what its not, rate it for what it is. ive heard a few logic songs and have heard him in guest spots. He's talented, but the content is really boring. His themes and stories are definitely unoriginal, and he definitely uses a lot of delivery techniques that have been done 10x better far before he did it, but hes not really that bad. Just kinda eh. giving this a 1 for sharing similarities with other rap narratives and other full hip hop albums is absolutely retarded. There is no blatant plagiarism here from what I've heard. Logic definitely repeats his themes and life story to the point of boredom and exhaustion but a 1 just because it's in some ways a lesser version of GKMC is so ridiculous I can't even

I decided to give it a 4 just to counterbalance this really stupid 1. I'd call it a 3.5 under other circumstances.

This is my thinking. I like listening to this in the background because dude has a good voice and great at wordplay but after a song ends it doesn't really stick with me. It's mellow, enjoyable, but not gonna set the world on fire.

That one song actually does sound quite a bit like Sing About Me tho

I'm not saying there aren't a few parallels, what I'm saying is that harping on it in this case is kinda silly given the number of similarities that exist all throughout hip hop and the similarities between GKMC and UP are no greater than the similarities between thousands of other albums. The only reason anyone would harp on it in this case so much is they're just unaware of any thoughtful rap beyond GKMC so they think KDot invented it or something.

And not to repeat myself, but it's extra bizarre when the guy being SO hard on derivative, unoriginal work fell all over himself to sing praises for a guy who went so far in the direction of copying another rapper people thought it actually WAS the other rapper.

This is equally stupid. Whether you agree with the review or not he's entitled to his rating and it isn't your job to counter balance the average

And I'm entitled to my rating.

If I believe someone has given something a rating for a bad reason (for example, someone gives an album a 5 because they're friends with the guy who made it) then I am EQUALLY at liberty to have MY rating reflect external factors as well.

There are two reasons to rate an album different than you think it deserves.

1) The overall is higher or lower than you think it should be so you use an extreme rating to affect the average. This is stupid.

2) You've seen that other people are abusing the rating system and affecting its average dishonestly so you use a different rating to try and recalibrate it to where it would be if the other people were being honest. This is less stupid.

Keep in mind that if a bunch of people think an album is a 4 but then someone sockpuppets it with a bunch of phantom 1s just to tank the rating for no good reason, the overall is still screwed up thanks to the idiot.
