i was so stoked on this album after i heard repine. thought the clean vocals would make them into a band with more density

but he hits the same 4 notes and delivers every word the same way over songs that are pretty much all the same tempo. idk man i'm pretty disappointed with this album. good review though

I miss the old sound too, but honestly this isn't that bad if you take it for what it is.

I agree that the vocal range leaves something to be desired, but it's not like the vocals on TLLA are any less monotonous.

Went back and listened to Mov Mou's self-titled album. Wow, it totally outclasses this one in almost every aspect. The craftsmanship just isn't here with Pianos, and it has the same boring tone throughout. Mov Mou is slow but it has decisive moments of aggression which really keep it fresh.

I agree that the vocal range leaves something to be desired, but it's not like the vocals on TLLA are any less monotonous.

There's a difference between the monotony of screaming without much variation vs. singing without much variation. Screaming--especially the way Kyle did it on The Lack Long After--is so clearly passionate because of the inherent physical strain of screaming that you can actually hear in the sound of this vocal technique, coupled with Kyle's willingness to put himself under this strain for the purpose of expression; it effectively conveys his sincerity. A guy saying words kind of softly without changing his pitch much isn't nearly as convincing of a performance.

I've heard this about 5-6 times now and I could probably go without it tbh. I'll have to revisit in a couple months or something, it's just doing nothing for me :[

Ok will do, but you should know I'm pausing Taylor Swift for this.

hmm i'd say this album is more "sowing-y" than i'll get by but it's an absolutely mind-blowing song agreed

Extremely emotional track for sure, I don't think I could possibly connect with it after one listen though.

Anyone who loved TLLA, be warned, this is no where close to being similar to that.
