i find giaa's albums to be boring and unoriginal but then seeing them live they were incredible.

can you say that when you havent listened to gybe? and gybe are nothing like giaa. you probably have to be in the right mood for a lot of gybe, and they do require patience. great stuff though and very original in their execution.

Yea you do have to be in the mood for them. Albums like Skinny Fists I don't jam often but if I'm in the mood for them I know. It's like the same thing with Kid A for me. Those two albums I consider to be more than just music.

my favourite is mladic from their latest album. that song is 20 minutes long and its so drawn out yet somehow manages to be completely engaging throughout. not many songs can achieve that. even my favourite postrock bands dont have the chops to make a 20 minute-long song engaging without needing to explore loads of different themes throughout the song. mladic is one long, samey build and is simply brilliant.

All good dude, for me there's not a minute or note wasted on that album. It's pure, organic, vast post rock that really makes you think. Like every emotion can be felt on that album too it's pretty dynamic.

I don't find GY!BE that amazing myself and I'm a HUGE post-rock fan. They are a very unique group and it's possible I'm just not so much into their sound but rather into the kind of sound that is more typical of many other post-rock bands. I also find Mladic to be their best track, now that is an amazing tune right there

Nice review Artuma. Everything is well-articulated and backed up with sound reasoning.
To me this is their best and most ambitious album, not to mention a lyrical gold mine. Definitely not as catchy or immediate as Bleed American, but I'm okay with that.
