Folk has been the best genre this year

this band, Musk Ox, sun kil moon, and...? I'm severely not up on my folk this year. New Natural Snow Buildings was good, too.

Idk about neofolk, but a lot of folk-influenced bands have released some great stuff this year. Panopticon, iamthemorning,

Saor, and Spectral Lore all come to mind.

Didn't dig Calmness at Stress much on first listen, but these flutes and cellos in Confounded I are nice

That piano with the bells (or whatever they are, idk) in the background is magical.

The new Ichiko Aoba is the only folk album that's really wowed me this year. New Woods album is great too but that's about it folk-wise for me this year, so far anyway.

Not yet but like I said neo/dark folk is very hit and miss with me and I have to be in a certain mood to enjoy it. I if I listen to it when I'm not in the mood I probably won't enjoy it much so it's better to wait 'til I am.

This is excellent, reminds me of Jim Matheos' First Impressions album and a band from Norway, The 3rd And The Mortal.

Nice find Judio!

seems like a genre with extremely small wiggle room. i've heard like 4 records that do this exact same thing over the years.

Agreed Calc, although I can't say I've ever heard anything quite like this before.

Thanks Cap m/

Yeah this is really good. Reminds me of the darker acoustic parts of Opeth.

Sweeeeet stuff indeed, it might not be as good as Musk Ox or Ainulindalë, but I really like it

Sweet find Judio!
