@Onirium I'd definitely recommend Echo Street or the debut and possibly the Octopus, they might be more to your taste. Start with the song Matmos

"To truly enjoy the record, you need to leave some of the prejudice behind."
Trying to.
Listening now and trying not to compare to octopus, hard to let go of the spacier version of amplifier tho as they did it so well sometimes.

magic carpet feels like you are listening to 2 different songs playing at the same time, in a cool way

Yes, it's hard not to compare anything new of theirs when you have such awesome records behind lol. I always imagine myself playing Audiosurf on Magic Carpet.

4 seems about right after a couple of listens, may sound higher next time I've had a few drinks. Good on them for not stagnating.

I have such a soft spot for this band. Even more now when my favorite band (Oceansize) aren't around anymore, Amplifier has filled the void of that awesome Manchester-band that way too few people talk about, that are awesome. While I can understand some criticisms for the band, I'm just really happy with what they put out, and they just hit that sweet spot for me. I would put their self-titled up there among my favorite albums, but overall their consistency is pretty dope.
It doesn't hurt that they seem like such nice guys. The times I have ordered from their shop, I've gotten stuff signed (without any information about it beforehand), and at one point I got a little message on a card, like "thanks for supporting us, (my name)". Also when I got that e-mail about the limited 1000 copies of the white vinyl of Mystoria, it's small things like that which really makes you feel like a valued customer and that the band really loves the fans, and at this point I have no qualms about ever sending my money to them. With some bands they lose my trust and I gotta hear the album before I buy it, but with Amplifier, I'd gladly order the most expensive bundle and most limited items, because I know it will be worth it.

Me too, hits and misses but the hits are amazing sometimes. Oceansize never did it for me dunno why.

Oceansize was better than these guys. However that being said Amplifier have a great sound and this album is pretty solid.

Oceansize were great, but I prefer Amplifier. It's great they take time for their fans.

Oceansize were more pretentious and complex, but not sure about better. Frames is brilliant though.
Zantera, if you love Oceansize and want a band from Manchester, you HAVE to check out Cyril Snear, their second album is really good, bit like a cross between Oceansize and Amplifier with more post-rock. Their stuff is on bandcamp
Named After Rocky is really growing on me. And despite the shit name, "OMG" is a great song

The font on the album title on the cover looks like it came straight from a Six Flags roller coaster entrance sign for some reason.

Been listening to Mystoria and Echo Street for the first time most of this week and must say Echo Street is
much better. They do lush very well (Matmos, One Great Summer, UFO's, etc) and it is missed on Mystoria.

I understand your opinion and I partly agree with it. Still, they do the heavy stuff just as well as the lush tunes. Still, it would've been even better if they added some Echo Street here.

Still haven't listened to this (or Insider) all the way through, they don't really hold my attention. The production/mixing is, like most Amplifier albums, a bit dodgy which doesnt help

It's nice that they went 2 different roads with Echo Street and Mystoria, though I personally think they could have molded the two together and made one really strong album, but instead we got two pretty great albums.
I'm digging Mystoria btw.
