I’m finding this to be a more consistent album than Diary, but this also doesn’t have the highs (Seven, In Circles, 48) that Diary has.

This is actually becoming my favorite SDRE album. My top 3 SDRE songs aren’t even on this album (7, In Circles, Pillars), but this is their most consistent for me. I like every song, whereas their other albums all have songs I fucking love, but they also all have a handful of skippable tracks for me.
In general, when this band is on, they are fucking ON, but they’re also pretty inconsistent for me.

yeah this album is madly overlooked but also diary is the shit so this is sort of rightfully in its shadow

As of right now, my ranking is:
Lp2
How it Feels
Diary
The Rising Tide
But I just listened to TRT for the first time today. I was expecting something kind of lackluster, but I really liked it actually (but ofc, inconsistent as hell). Prob a 3.5.
But yeah man, this is low key awesome. Doesn’t have that wow factor that some of their other songs/albums have, but this really creeps up on you. Front to back their most solid imo.

front back their most solid is diary where every song is nothing short of amazing. do you even song about an angel or grendel

Nah disagree. Quite a few songs off Diary I consider pretty skippable (Round, 47, Pheurton Skeurto). But goddamn, 7 and In Circles are about as good as a song could possibly be.
Grendel and Song About an Angel are solid songs. But don’t seem to blow me away as much as most here.

47 is skippable???

(Sorry).
I don’t dislike it and I don’t really skip it FTR. But it doesn’t catch my attention. 48 is far better imo. I dunno, I feel like I maybe blew through their discog a little too quickly and didn’t give Diary enough time to grow on me. I’m gonna throw it on a few more times and see what happens.

I cant even jam albums like this anymore i get too sad

I dunno, I don’t find this one particularly depressing at all. Some of their other work yes, but not this particular album.
Red Elephant, Bucket of Chicken and Rodeo Jones are so fucking awesome.

"48 is far better imo"
i mean, can't blame you on that, it's one of their best tunes for sure
PITIFUL BOOOOOYYY

Hell, 8–Rodeo Jones is even better and if you add Spade and Parade and Bucket of Chicken, even better. That’s what I’m saying! It’s so consistent. Every song is awesome. Dude, Waffle? Such the shit man.
No idea why Spade and Bucket didn’t make the original cut, especially considering how short the album is — I’d even argue those are prob the best songs here along with Red Elephant.
