had the biggest wtf moment today

entered a danish reviewing website and on the front page was this album:

paul banks - blackberry wine

apparently a danish jazz dude with the same name is releasing a record on the same date.

plus Banks - Banks, that's three banks on the same day. Hurrah for Banks!

I'd actually say Pitchfork couldn't have got it more wrong. It seems to me that some people are so

invested in TOTBL that they can't do anything other than compare new albums to it, and in many ways

people use TOTBL as a stick to beat Interpol with. Pitchfork is a prime example, its all they do

throughout the entire

review. If they treated it as a standalone album they might have enjoyed it more, as so many on

here have managed to do.

Yeah, Pitchfork's justifications in its review were hard to follow, as it compared a number of songs on El Pintor to other songs in Interpol's catalog that didn't really warrant the self-cannibalism argument Pitchfork was making (My Desire compares to All Fired Up? Really?). Tiny Mix Tapes' review of the album was also an unjustified brutal review that places TOTBL on a skyscraper-high pedestal.

I laughed at that comparison too oahmed, its lazy at best. The others aren't much better, you can see the reviewer sat on iTunes comparing intros going erm yeh that's guitar led like that new one WHAT A RIP

AgainAnd, do you collect interpol vinyls? or do you just buy a lot of records? if i had to buy all the albums i consider good and above i would be ruined :] just curious
