Organized noise = music

"Organized" being a completely subjective term here. A freight train going barreling at 65 down the tracks can be music if I feel like it.

john cage was a philosopher with music so what he was trying to prove is that anything could be music----even the lack of noise. so he composed a piece with nothing in it.

not trying to be a know it all and say i know better than your teacher but saying the audience is supposed to be the music kind of misses the mark- i think it's part of the answer. but that's how i interpret it, and how i was taught but yeah

well not the audience intentionally being the music. just the lack of music making it so you can hear everything going on in the background. the general ambience i guess

really though trying to analyze john cage is an exercise in futility

he pretty much sticks things in between the piano strings and it makes weird sounds. you know him just experimenting with things
