Have you jammed the s/t Zaruyache?

I think I've heard all of his stuff. Of the first two albums I think I like Collapse more but it's really a toss-up for me. Imo they're both like 3.7/5's. This is probably close to that, maybe a little more, maybe a little less. Haven't listened to this enough to totally decide yet and I'm spacing out my listens so that I don't burn myself out and get sick of it altogether. :]

I feel you. I pretty much dig all Panopticon hard except for Social Disservices and a couple of splits.

Social Disservices makes me mad because it should've been his best thus far but some awkwardness with

the meshing of instruments and lacking of effective production robbed it of what it should've been

imo. It's got his fastest, more black metal sections but they're robbed because the drums come across

as slightly out-of-beat and clumbsy during the blasting sections sjdklaf;jsdfkl

It's just so forgettable among the rest of his discography to me. It's not bad, just doesn't stand out.

"that was his other album, kentucky. he abandoned that idea after that release."

nope. he does it here, but he does it well.

This sounds like As I Lay Dying and it sucks. I miss his s/t and Collapse-type stuff, that was really
great

Zaruyache I kinda know what you're talking about though, and I still think Patient is one of the best tracks he's made

one of the best black metal albums i've heard in a while, solid review. i enjoyed parts of what he was doing in kentucky and this just delivers on every little promise from his previous work. thank god this guy is here, MN needs some more BM representation.

Splendid review!

Also a great album, a couple of tracks here are awe-inspiring. Judging by some comments here I have to check some of this guy's earlier albums.

Listening to this now, and really not liking the banjo. Hopefully there's not much of it on here.

pretty much everything but Kentucky and On the Subject... have krieg covers. This cover is like straight-up Immortal style minus the crab walking selfie, while the s/t is more Darkthrone.

Unfortunately Black Metal is usually reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally bad/simplistic/basic in the groove department.
