Agreed NightProwler. This is one of those special albums were I think everything sounds better than on studio.

really nice review bro, this is one of your best! This sounds awesome but I haven't heard much thin lizzy so i should prolly check their stuff first unless you think this is a good starting point?

Thanks dude, I really appreciate it! This is like a "greatest hits" album where everything sounds better than on studio so if you don't like this one you probably won't like their studio work much.

However, if you want to check their studio albums, Jailbreak and Black Rose are great choices to begin with.

damn jailbreak is a great album. this is one of those bands I've always known about but just never got around to listening to any of their albums in their entirety. Love the guitars on 'Emerald'

Great rock band, twin guitar pioneers... I don't know why, but I feel allured by Johnny the Fox, more than your average Thin Lizzy fan.

Oh I forgot... they possess a rare quality when it comes to rock music >>> they groove!

Agreed hard. The guitars on Emerald are epic! Glad you enjoy them dude.

@DrJohn

Yeah, Johnny the Fox has this infectious, sly, groovy rhythm which sticks to your mind. Cool lyrics as well.

Yeah mate, I actually find this band with its classic line-up a hint underrated when compared to other 70s rock giants.

Note in passing -If I recall correctly, Maiden covered the song “Massacre” back in 1988, but the riff behind the verse and the vocal melody in Bruce’s "Dark side of Aquarius" are strangely reminiscent of the original. : )

@Atari

Definitely dude. Both are addictive tracks. Thin Lizzy have these folk elements I know you love.

@DrJohn

Indeed, these guys tend to get overshadowed by the big 3 of rock. I remember that Maiden covered "Massacre" but cannot remember the similarity to "Dark side of Aquarius". Gonna check.

not getting much of a folk vibe on the jailbreak album, more of a blues rock sound but yeah they rule either way ;) They're really easy to get into

Indeed. I always get a folk vibe when I listen to these guys though from tracks such as Running Back or the t/t of Black Rose. Maybe not in a sense like Jethro Tull but I still feel their Irish roots in their music.

No worries bro, I'm very interested in seeing how you perceive the band's music. There's definitely a lot of energy on this album.
