Oh I need to check that anchor and braille hopefully I don't think it's boring. Maybe i should wait until summer to try it.

I think this might be their best one. Loved Dark is the Way ... but thought Vital was a step down. Then this came out.

I have Cities on 5, but since this came out I prefer listening to this. But it's not a 5 and I can't get myself to lower Cities' rating.

Damn you, ratings.

Haven't listened to this in ages. Feel like the only Anberlin I ever get around to is Cities and Vital... then random tracks from random albums. Think Hearing Voices and Stranger Ways are the only two Lowborn songs I've listened to in 2016

hearing voices is the best song on here by a comfortable margin. this is a good album imo but not close to their best

Smooth is definitely an accurate word for this record (with the exception of dissenter). Tracks like Stranger Ways and Hearing voices are no doubt smooth af

If the album wasn't so focused about moving on and done in such a melancholic way I would enjoy it more. This is more like something I hear and feel negative.

I think it is subliminally a fear of the future and mourning the loss of an unrecoverable past shaping most of the album.

And knowing they were about to break up I wonder how much effort goes into the album.

Goddamnit. Miss them. When NTFP was released, I discovered it on my newly-acquired laptop -- my first computer that wasn't shared -- and they became the first real band I discovered on the internet.

Stephen went to high school with, and was I think still a mild acquaintance of, a podcaster I used to listen to. He played a song as a closer once, and later had him on as a guest I think? It was Cadence. I think I was 16-17 and hadn't heard anything quite like it before. Played NTFP on loop for months after that, despite the occasionally cringey lyrics.

I have so many of their songs since directly connected to specific memories and angst-y parts of growing up and high school. So much nostalgia listening to their stuff.

I used to hate Cities with a passion when it released, up until a few years ago. Definitely a grower.

New Surrender onward...wasn't the biggest fan. They began to drop their poppy aggressive side and leaned towards more straightforward by-the-numbers emotional rock, and it wasn't catchy for me anymore.

Vital + its b-sides had some pure gold, but I couldn't fully get behind Lowborn. Oh well. People mature and change and don't want to make the same music their whole career.

Same thing happening to Coheed now, and it's a bit sad.

I don't mind, they have some good melodies on here, melancholic or not.
