Totally agree ^^

Although I don't rate the black album as highly.

Am I allowed to just write a short executive summary? If yes, I'd say it's a combination of good moments and the equivalent of being kicked in the nuts and Rick Roll'd. Only thing that I'd like to see now is Lulu 2.0 with Gaga on vox and dudes all over the world burning their bras because some of us dare to complain lol.

First Metallica and best Metallica. I still get watery eye listening to Sanitarium.

I would shorten Man's arguement to the first 4 albums, 5 does its job as a mainstream money grabber , but that does not mean that it is good, it is good but it is not a Metallica album, pick any 70s rock album, and package it as The Black album and it would be the same response

^ Sorry, most 70's rock albums don't share the excellent production of the black album, so that's a plus. Also, many albums from that era would kill for some of the addictive hooks that this album has and its flair.

rock, I think your missing that 70 rock album had tremendous production value, unless it was a on purpose thing, they had sometimes much better production than 90's albums, it was analog first off, so the rich sound shown through

you are hearing the retred cd versions probably, go to the original print where the real prod. value really comes through

I agree, but Black was analog too, and it really sounds great. clear but still heavy and organic, very dynamic too.

Yup, perfectly described for less than a paragraph worth; couldn't agree more. 'A commercial approach to metal that doesn't suck, black album' Zinger dude! Spot on.

Black album sounds amazing for sure. The riffs are just enhanced by the beefiness. I can't imagine Sad But True any other way. I also own that album on vinyl.
