My profile was hijacked by a housemate who does not appreciate the sanctity of Priest nor my laptop password. Apologies.

that and the opener are the best songs

the production on this is terrible. vox levels are everywhere and the guitars sound like a keyboard run through a guitar amp, which I do.
but I don't play guitar.

Huh, never heard that anime before. Sound interesting so I'm probably going to check it out.

Valhalla is so badass

it's really too bad the guitars sound like they're being played in the next room over. that solo bit in Down In Flames really gets going shortly after 2:00.

Have only heard a few songs, but yeah the production is terrible

Havent even bothered with this

Aside from Battle Cry I usually end up wondering "why am I listening to this when I could be listening to [insert better album here]?" and switch over to said album.

I was too curious not to listen to this album, and honestly there are many better ones from this year. This album is not quite good enough for me to buy it, and I will be still sticking with my top 7 Priest albums, four of which are from the 70s.

Once again, it's too long and full of meh tracks. Honestly, March of the Damned is one of the few Priest tracks I just hit the "next" button as soon as it comes on.

I only really intend to revisit some tracks of this album every few months, and even though I prefer it to the other post-Painkiller albums, it still was underwhelming.

I have it at #36 on my top 2014 albums (out of 43). Not a disaster, but not very impressive. Yeah, My favorites of theirs are Painkiller, Defenders, and Stained Class...those are the only ones I have in heavy rotation, and I'll spin Sad Wings, Screaming, and British Steel every now and then too.

Most of those albums you mentioned I own, and I certainly play Stained Class and Painkiller as well. I heard about half the amount of albums from this year as you did, and I can honestly say their are far better albums in power, progressive, thrash, and extreme metal from this year alone.
