I don't think that most people here realize that this music is really only meant to be played in new orleans clubs, really loud, to hyped up crowds...

What a poor excuse. If that's the case, why release it out of context?

Once upon a time there was a thing called Crazy Frog. Crazy Frog was also only supposed to be

played in clubs
in Sweden!, however the fact still remains that Crazy Frog sucks

Personally think the summary is a pretty accurate reflection of the inevitable divisiveness of this release and yadda yadda yadda or whatevs

I'm just saying this isn't even meant to be listened as an album.

Already said why, exposure.

Is this level of condescension typical in your discourse? you don't seem like a very pleasant person to chat with, at least not in this context.

Pretty much. While it may be a lame excuse, this stuff is very popular here and people eat it up, especially in a club or live setting. I would go as far as to say that it's for good reason too, but Im not going into that to people that have only heard recorded versions of it. Before this album was announced, I dont believe many if anyone was expecting a full release of bounce music. It's still a weird idea to me after hearing this style for years, but never seeing anyone succesfully capitalize on it.

Yea, pretty much

But in all honesty, I struggle to see how you can apply excuses like "you're not listening to it in the right context", and "you're thinking about it all wrong, and approaching it in the wrong way". You're applying your own level of condescension by even implying that. I listen to a lot of what many people would call "club music"; it's designed to be played out in big rooms, but it doesn't exist solely in that environment. If your music can't sustain itself outside of live performance, then it's not being done right.

And I'm pretty sure everyone here is approaching the music here in exactly the same way: it's an official release, released by the artist... consisting of music. If it's designed solely for one setting, the exposure that this will net the artist wont be of the overly positive kind

look, i'm from new orleans and even i can admit that its completely terrible. most new orleans people

that claim to like bounce just actually like to get extremely wasted and grind on each other to music

that they can call their own. which is cool, but really we should keep this stuff to ourselves because

its very embarassing.

i've seen freedia live and it was a fun show for a couple of songs but beyond that i couldn't stand it

because of how terrible the actual music is

I don't get why you keep using the word "excuse". I'm not excusing anything, I'm just trying to explain it. I listened to one song and found it completely uninteresting and even irritating, I just assumed that it was because this music was only really meant to be listened to live. The completely stripped down and repetitive structure can only really be appreciated by a crowd of euphoric and dazed people who are not looking for interesting song structures or compositions but simply hyped chants. so yeah, if your criteria for good music are skilfully composed and structured pieces, then this is absolutely terrible, but people who enjoy this, regardless of the context, obviously have different criteria.

You're trying to justify the negative opinions being displayed towards this release by attempting to
lessen the implication of the music

I just assumed that it was because this music was only really meant to be listened to live.

Wait, wait, wait, wait... is "assumed" really the backtrack you want to make after saying this:

I don't think that most people here realize that this music is really only meant to be played
in new orleans clubs, really loud, to hyped up crowds...

Be honest, is this really the idiotic legacy you wish to leave upon this thread? Think about it for
awhile now

so yeah, if your criteria for good music are skilfully composed and structured pieces, then
this is absolutely terrible, but people who enjoy this, regardless of the context, obviously have
different criteria.

My criteria for good music is music that I think is good. And that's something that I'll never need
to justify, nor attempt to explain away when a mass of people fail to share the same opinion as
me
