I don't know why, but for some inexplicable reason, to me, this album (along with Streetcleaner) brings to mind images of run-down, impoverished council estates. Where Streetcleaner mostly seemed to focus on aural terror, Pure feels extremely desolate. Both albums, in their own way, express the pure misery of existence. I don't think albums like Streetcleaner or Pure could've been created in any other place, except for an industrialized British environment.

Haha I didn't even know about that. Broadrick has his fingers in all sorts of pies.

makes me wonder how much the past six years living in North Philadelphia have influenced my falling in love with Broadrick's music

I want to 5 this. It's one of my favorite albums of all time. But I am nitpicky when it comes to giving perfect ratings. Over 1300 albums and 19 perfect ratings. Someone tell me I should 5 this...

Godflesh are so punishing, one of my favorite bands... No one makes music feel as tortured as these guys.
