Would love to generate some discussion here, but since I'm actually not-so-metal styles, then I have to admit, I haven't devoted proper listening time to either band.

The vocals are really bad here

"but since I'm actually not-so-metal styles"
I don't know dude, 666 ratings is pretty m/, and you're the only staff reviewer I've seen who can actually appreciate nu-metal

That I do. I definitely don't think the genre was all bad. Hell, I can still get excited for some stuff. Somebody said the new Linkin park is more aggressive again so I'll definitely check that out, and I feel no shame in admiting that I'd like to hear the new Dope album as well - No Regrets was fun.

Agreed, there are some great nu-metal albums out there. Never was big on Linkin Park but the new album is getting some surprisingly good ratings.

@Metalstyles No hard feelings, brother. I'm not a big doom guy either.
@ScuroFantasma Ditto. I oughta check out LP's earlier stuff to see if I can get anything out of it.

Yeah, Hybrid Theory is pretty good so start there and move on to Meteora. Also, congrats on hitting 666 comments before.

Glad they've changed their direction. After NOLA it was going downhill really fast. Phil sounds like Tad Doyle these days. That just makes Down more awesome.

this one has really grown on me, even though I liked it from the start. definitely better than Part I and I like it more than Over the Under too, it's more rough around the edges.

Yeah I can definitely see that. Over The Under had some great songs (and On March The Saints is in my top 5 Down songs ever), but some dull ones as well, and the production was too neat.

I actually heard a bit of Pentagram, Day Of Reconing was decent, nothing special imo.
(I'm gonna check out their s/t, hopefully it's better)
Have not heard a thing off Witchfinder General

meh this is ok but not great. listen to Crowbar's new album they're pretty much the best sludge band ever

definitely the most consistent

I find that even though Down is regarded as pretty much the staple, Crowbar have just put out way more albums with way better riffs and songs

i'm hoping one of the next two eps will be all acoustic. i dig the mellow stuff that they did on nola and II.

For me this is just as good as Part I, where half the album is excellent, and the other half is average for the band. The Opening three tracks I actually think are weaker than the closing three, the Sabbathian "Conjure" especially making for one of the band's best recent songs. I also think Anselmo's vocals fare a little better here than on the first part of IV.

picked this up finally and yeah its pretty good. way better than part 1 anyways

this is probably a little more consistent than pt 1 but there isn't anything on here that's as good as misfortune teller
