This is underrated, admittedly love everything this band did, but still think this is real good.

This is appropriately rated, a couple standout tracks though

If any other band released this album youd all be worshipping them bow

I'll just stick with tracks 3 and 5

"If any other band released this album youd all be worshipping them bow"
i dont think so, i wasnt going into this expecting to be so underwhelmed, i loved everything else they had done up until this. John himself said he had lost inspiration at this point.

"If any other band released this album youd all be worshipping them bow"
That's probably pretty accurate.
I never understood the hate for this album. Sure, it loses some steam at tracks 7 and 8, but no way is this that much worse than Marrow. Then again, Sput has Fear Inoculum rated worse than 10k Days so I shouldn't be searching for logic here I guess

First time jamming this
Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be
But still fairly average compared to their other stuff
Celestial Effigy is pretty decent though

Album's still perfectly good. Just not great.
Less inspired than previous albums but still very competent

The high points on this really makes me miss them.

For some reason "birth and death of the pillars of creation" and "plateau of ages" are blanked out on spotify for me. But the rest of the album is. I wonder why?

I listened to this again and it was still boring

The Astral Dialogue, Celestial Effigy and Dark Matter Gods are to me still prime Agalloch without a question. The rest may feel a bit boring, but I love all the acoustic tracks

The acoustic tracks are the best parts of this, but those aren't even by Agalloch. They pretty clearly blew the last of their creative genius with Marrow, but this is still decent atmospheric doom/bm. They'll always be one of my top favorite bands for their first three albums, the White, and Black Lake.

Love the overall sound and atmosphere on this album. There’s some good tracks as well, but as a whole this one is tough to get through.

songwriting is too meandering on this. so many sections just blur together and drift by without any impact.
this has all the worst qualities of Agalloch imo: songs that are long for the sake of being long, "live" production that just makes it sound sloppy and casts a light on not great/poor musicianship (not sure why it worked on Marrow and not here), bad vocals...

I mean Marrow has production that fits the product about 10000x better than this. it probably sits in my top 5 in that regard.

Marrow has garbage production like literally garbage

Album Rating: 2.5
The production on Marrow is probably the best of any of their albums tbh
