Closer to 3.3 than 3.2 so i went with 3.5 :p

Sure isn't as good as some other albums but still worth a spin, imo.

I think that Celestial Effigy is easily a top ten Agalloch track.

Astral Dialogue/Dark Matter Gods are the highlights for me. I love the opener and Plateau as well

Yeah it might be higher than a 2.5 but I dunno. This just crushes me because the first 4 albums are basically perfect.

This is better than 2 of those 4 though

Which ones? Imo this is the only one that stands out as being "meh" of the 5.

Personally I like this better than PF and Marrow (Marrow being their weakest).

I get so absorbed when listening to this one

Celestial is the most "Agallochy" song of the bunch on this record

Eh, atmosphere alone on Marrow + the extra black metal puts it above this imo. PF is better than Marrow, which means it's better than this imo.

Agreed about Celestial

Each Agalloch album is pretty drastically different from its predecessors so, arguably, Celestial would actually be the least Agalloch-y song on here :3

I'm a massive fan of Marrow, and if this album had a better opener, it'd essentially be on that level. The opener isn't bad by any means though; rather, it overstays its welcome and simply can't compare to Into the Painted Grey.

The only song that drags a little for me is Vales. Otherwise I love this from front to back

This loses steam a bit in the final third but overall it's still really great.

Ashes is the only truly flawless Agalloch album. Marrow is amazing and underrated, though
